We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it under the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019).

Muiaa Limited (“Muiaa”, “we”, “us”) operates the Muiaa Feeds marketplace at muiaa.co.ke. We are registered in Nairobi, Kenya. For contact details, see our Contact page.

2.1 Data you provide

  • Account information — name, email address, phone number, KRA PIN (for business accounts), and delivery address.
  • Order data — products ordered, quantities, prices, delivery preferences, and payment method.
  • Communication — messages you send to sellers or to our support team, including feedback and reviews.
  • Business information — for sellers: farm or mill name, location, business registration, and product listings.

2.2 Data we collect automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, search queries, click patterns, and time spent on the platform.
  • Device data — browser type, operating system, screen size, and IP address.
  • Location data — approximate location based on IP address. We do not access your device’s GPS without explicit permission.

2.3 Data from third parties

  • Payment providers — M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and bank processors provide transaction confirmation (not your full financial details).
  • Logistics partners — delivery status and proof of delivery.
  • To process and fulfil your orders.
  • To verify seller identity and product origin.
  • To communicate with you about orders, deliveries, and account activity.
  • To improve our platform, detect fraud, and ensure marketplace integrity.
  • To send relevant product updates and marketing communications (only with your consent — you can opt out at any time).
  • To comply with legal obligations under Kenyan law.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as needed to operate the platform:

  • Sellers see your name, delivery address, and order details (but not your payment information).
  • Logistics partners receive your delivery address and phone number for fulfilment.
  • Payment processors receive the minimum data needed to process transactions.
  • Legal authorities if required by Kenyan law or court order.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Order data is retained for 7 years for accounting and tax compliance. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Object to processing of your data for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

We use encryption (TLS 1.3) for all data in transit, and encrypt sensitive data at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your cart. We use analytics cookies (anonymized) to understand how the platform is used. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll notify you by email and via a banner on the site when material changes are made. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
